Simple fixes to eat healthier every day!
It’s a given that healthy eating habits and following a balanced diet does wonders for our body. However healthy eating does not have to be synonymous with a strict diet of kale and kombucha. Here are some tips to eat right!
Start the day with breakfast
People think by skipping breakfast they’re cutting calories for the day, but this is the furthest from the truth. When someone skips breakfast by the time lunch rolls around they are starved. In fact, 78% of participants in the National Weight Control Registry report eating breakfast every day as a way to lose weight and keep it off. Eating breakfast also helps reduce hunger and overeating later in the morning or at lunch.
It may seem boring, but water should always be your go to fluid. Without any unnecessary calories or chemicals, it helps you stay hydrated all throughout the day. Add slices of citrus fruit, strawberries or cucumber to water to make the flavor more appealing, which may help you drink more!
Eat the rainbow
Fun fact: did you know all of the different colors in fruits and vegetables contain different health properties?
Fruits and veggies are naturally low in calories and offer multiple health benefits.
Consuming a diet high in fruits and vegetables is associated with lower risks for many chronic diseases, such as cancer and cardiovascular disease. Try to make your plate as colorful as possible!
Unhealthy high calorie foods are everywhere. It’s important to plan ahead of time to make sure you have something healthy available to you. Taking the time to plan a healthy dinner meal can help you avoid grabbing takeout on your way home from work.
